Over the last couple of days, I did these two drawings for someone on twitter. The real challenge when drawing Oliver’s (& Shado’s) dragon tattoo is really how damn complicated it is. Not just in design, but also it’s position on their bodies, the fact that it (especially in Oliver’s case, which is the version they’ve shown more of) is riddled with scars, and the fact that they never show it in full and at a good angle. These all made it nearly impossible for me to copy it accurately. In the end I had about 5 or 6 screencaps open, flicking between them in order to piece together as much of the design as I could. Not my finest piece of work, but… best I could do given what I had to go off of. I intentionally left off a lot of the top section — the top of the dragon’s head — as it was impossible to get every detail since the closer shots always had lighting obscuring that part, and then the angles I could see it were the wrong angle so I couldn’t get it all out. And yes, I’m aware that one eye looks bigger — that’s because it is in the tattoo.
And the second is Oliver’s Bratva tattoo. Which I should point out took me less than an hour to do a rough trace, then fill in the details & colour. Pretty damn impressive, really, since most of my Olicity ones take me days even weeks to do. (although I did do a non-Olicity/Arrow one the other day in less than 24 hours and it’s far more complicated than this…)
Excuse the photography — I took it on my phone, with the clipboard I had the paper on sitting on my lap propped against my desk. Not the best quality but I don’t care.
I posted this on Twitter, but I only just remembered about posting on this site (shhh! I’ve been busy every week writing ‘Arrow’ reviews for the lovely Geeked Out Nation).
These are photos of the drawing (because I’m temporarily scanner-less). It was inspired by a promo still from the upcoming episode Suicide Squad (airing on March 19 in the US) of Oliver kissing Sara’s forehead. I instantly formed the image in my head of Oliver kissing Felicity’s forehead — & this was the result. I used that promo image of Oliver as a guide for him, & a screencap from Blast Radius for her (after trying in vain about 20 other pictures of her, all failing to be the right angle).
The initial drawing — outline done, details mostly laid out, shadows lightly marked in. Time for colouring. (excuse the clipboard — it’s done on a lose piece of paper & I was using the clipboard to keep it still.)
Most of the colours are done. Took the liberty of changing his jacket to green, as it suits him better.
Closer up shot. Seriously need to fix the shadow between their faces…
‘Kiss Me’ (words added in Photoshop. My handwriting’s not that neat.)
I just wanted to thank you for coming to the site! Although I haven’t been posting much of late (have had my hands full writing reviews of Arrow for Geeked Out Nation), I do come on & check out the site stats. I’m blown away by the now-regular figures of 80-120 daily views. It means that people are seeing my work, & I really appreciate that. And thank God for Google! ahahaha! :)
So, from the bottom of my heart… Thank you! It really means a lot that this site is going so well. (shame I don’t get paid for it… lol)
Well, after taking just over a month (probably a month & a half!) to write, I’ve finally finished Chapter 2!
The whole story will be posted from now on on Archive of Our Own — where I’m going under the username ArrowOlicityLover. I’ve put it up there because it’s easier to have the whole story in the one area there than on here.
So enjoy! And Chapter 3′s already started — so hopefully it won’t take me quite so long! *fingers crossed*
After taking a week’s break (since I got so damn stressed out writing my Blast Radius review, and frankly Blind Spot wasn’t all that brilliant so I didn’t care that I was taking the week off), I wrote a review of Arrow S2E12 Tremors.
I’ve been looking forward to seeing it since Stephen Amell mentioned it held his favourite scene. And it was that comment that inspired my When The Sun Goes Down fic (which I’m still in the process of writing Chapter 2). So I went into the episode with some very high expectations. And it didn’t disappoint.
I also hit the jackpot when Stephen Amell, Colton Haynes and Stunt Choreographer James ‘BamBam’ Bamford all live tweeted through the episode. (The show’s Production Office twitter tweeted that they wrapped the day’s shoot early so everyone could go and watch the episode. That’s pretty awesome.) And so I stayed up very late last night editing not only my review, but also compiling all the tweets to share.

No images of Olicity for the episode, but here’s two of my favourite photos. Roy being trained by the Hood. The first time we’ll see Oliver training in his green leather.
